Thread: Dess key.

    Dess key.

Hey guys, for some reason my Lerner key has stopped working, when I connect it to the dess post it flashes up " Key" on the dash display. It worked fine before the winter. I only have the one ski and the 2 keys. Full power key and Lerner key. The full power key still works it's just the Lerner key won't for some reason. When plugged in and I press the start button nothing happends. Is this known to happen, any reason why this would happen?

I presume I need a new key and get it programmed to my ski?

Just want to understand why this has happened?

    Thanks guys

Yes mate! It used to say L key. But now it's just says "key" and when I press the start stop button with that key plugged in nothing happends! It won't turn over or anything but it's fine with the full power key.

    thanks jamie

the skis ECU has detected your high skill level and killed off the learner key.

Clean the inside of the key with a clean white rag. The key has a chip, it doesn't like large bursts of static electricity. Try putting the key on with a slight rocking motion

    any console beeping going on?

Ok I had another look at it today I cleaned out the key and put it on the dessert post and pressed set 5 times and fault code p-0513 came up.- Incorrect dess key.
I take it the key has failed.

    not really.

I'd be rich if I got a $1 for every 4-tec I've hooked up to that shows that error..almost all do.

I'll be happy to check the key for you, just mail it with return postage and I'll stick it on my assortment of key machines and see if they howl at it not being a valid key.

I have never encountered a DESS key that failed, except from mechanical wear and tear such as being run over by a truck or the metal inside the key breaking from rough treatment.
