    2002 rx di cranking problem

I am working on a 2002 rx di it I have taking it out a few times with no problems after engine rebuild. I took it out few weeks ago and ran perfect for few hours then it started getting harder to crank then it would not even try to crank unless I held throttle half way open but it would not run but a few seconds as it was bogging down. I just put new fuel pump and filters in it. It's still doing same thing. I can here fuel pump turn on. This is the first di I have worked on and I'm stumpted. Any suggestions? Thanks

do a compression test. It sounds like it is seized.

inspect the spark plugs when you do the compression test..if you see any metal on them, you have a huge problem on your hands.

If the compression is good and there is no metal on the plugs, might want to pull the jetpump(least labor-best possibility) to see if the pump has locked up.

I hope it's the pump, if not you just set fire to about $1000

give us a couple of details on your rebuild. box motor?..pistons rings?

OK I checked spark plugs no metal on them. I went ahead and put new ones in. I checked jet pump and it looks good. I did compression check and front is 126psi and rear 130psi

how do the sides of the pistons look? You can see them when you remove the blades and rotate the crank from the pto.

I will check tomorrow. I did find out it will crank and run good if you put starter fluid in air breather but will not crank with out it.

do the plugs look the SAME between the front and rear hole? The dark 1 is going to be the 1 that has seized, which is going to be the front hole.

If your new fuel pump is from HighFlow Fuel then that is your problem. It has taken a dump cause they're junk.

Yes it is a high flow pump. And I found out the air compressor is not pushing any air through hose. What is a good fuel pump to use on di?

I've had good fortune with the Bosch pump kits from Herko, used several of them the last few seasons with no failures yet.
