    Problem after trim rebuild

I did the trim motor tear-down and rebuild that BlueFishCrisis did the great DIY on, but the recommended replacement motor has a completely different shaft than the original. The original had long tooth-like ridges that ran the length of the shaft to hold the brass pinion with friction and keep it from turning. On the replacement motor the shaft is smooth and the first .25" has half of the shaft ground away as if the intended pinion should only have a half-moon shaped bore hole. The original pinion just spins freely on this new motor shaft. Any idea on how I can get this to work? Has anyone else run into this problem?

I think you are going to have to buy the new style matching pinion.

I'm okay with that, but where would one find that sort of pinion? I've done a quick google search with no luck.

The shaft on the new motor is setup to receive a set screw from the installed pinion. Like this:

Standard hobby pitches are 32p 48p and 64p. The sizes go by pitch and number of teeth. Not sure how to figure that one out. Too bad I didn't run into this problem as I have a bunch of 32p and 48p pinions here...
