Thread: SCOM disonnect

    SCOM disonnect

I've found that if I don't ride my ski for a while (+week), my battery drains from the SCOM (R&D). Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there is some sort of quick disconnect anybody is using to solve the issue?

Never heard of this from the R&D version as you plug into the KDS connector not to the battery so only draws small amount of current when the ski is on and none when the is off..

Is your battery dead when you try to start it up?

If I don't ride it for more than a week or so, yes it's dead. Never had this issue before I installed the SCOM.

It is not unusual, at least with the Riva by-pass. Just get a battery tender.

I could, but it would be a hassle running an extension cord that far. I'm wondering if I cut the power wire, run an extension wire from one end to a simple toggle switch and then back down to the other part of the cut wire?

I have 3 years and 230 hrs out of the same battery and scom. no issue with R&D here.
Ski fired up for year 4 last week after a long hibernation.

only real way to find out whats going on it to measure the mA draw on the ski when its off, first with scom attatched, then with it removed
Do you have a multimeter with a A or mA range?

I do not have a multimeter, sounds like I might want to get one.

    yes, thats your next step
Not all meters have the ability to read current so choose carefully
