2011 GTI SE 155 - hairline / stress cracks issue

Picked a 2011 GTI SE 155 62 hours for cheap due to stress cracks on the right side footboard wall (see pictures) A guy says doesn't now how it happened and it doesn't look like it was hit with anything. I put about 2 hours on it and it doesn't seem like they are getting any bigger but i wasn't doing any wake jumping either, have you guys ran into this issue ? did you fix it or just live with it, is it like yamaha nano xcel hull where they say crack doesn't get any bigger. I put some stickers along the crack lines just to give you an idea were they are.

Stress cracks like those just don't happen out of nowhere. The guy says he does not know what happened.... BS! The ski probably got squeezed in or something put an overall pressure on that area. Your close-up picture appears to show pretty deep distinct cracks. I don't know if you can but I would try to take a pictures inside of the hull in that area. I would also want to verify the integrity of the seal between the deck and the hull to make sure it is still water tight but it may not be an issue. I think there might be flotation foam in the way though.

Your not going to get a camera inside that part of the hull.

They are stress cracks, it got bumped into a dock or bumped by another ski or boat. It may have flexed if he was jumping big waves..... If it was hit hard enough, there would be damage to the gel coat.

They will continue to spread unless you get them fixed.

It really looks like they came out of no where as you can't see any damage to the gel coat or point of contact damage, i tried getting a camera in there but you've got floating foam, I'm pretty sure it's water tight as i took it out for a ride and rode it like a granny just to make sure the water doesn't get in from the above and when i got to the dock ski was dry inside. I take it there is no magic crack filler i would have to sand it down to the fiber just like any other fiberglass repair ?

jumping wakes with hard landings makes these types of cracks-focus your attention on the driveline for now.

time to repair is at the seasons end..get out and ride!

Laminate has had some kind of stress at some point but can also be product related as well. To much gelcoat sprayed in that area(should be .8mm thick) Bad cure, Incorrect catalyst used? So many variables when spraying.

Interesting. I almost wrote poor quality of assembly in my first message. For right or for wrong, BRP leaves me with that impression sometimes.
