    Sl1050 pre ignition/spark issues

    I have a 1997 sl1050 that I just built and it seems to have a pre ignition problem it will idle and vibrate all over the place and die so I tried to single out the culinders and 1 and 2 both will die it's like the engine is going to backfire but shuts of before it can, and cylinder 3 seems to work perfectly. I have the updated cdi #4010379 and stator#4010170. I posted that cdi up on greenhulk they told me it could be for a Polaris 1050 or 1200 is it possible that if it was set up like a 1200 it would run like that.

    Are you sure the spark plug wires for the two misfiring cylinders are not swapped?

    I tried swapping them and it would t start at all.

    No problem using a '1200' CDI on a 1050, other than timing curve at high RPM.

    There is a potential for confusion with the three cylinder ignition coils. There are two versions which have different spark plug wire sequences. There are also two versions of the crankshaft firing order, so it is possible the CEN and PTO cylinders can be firing backwards.

    Do a single cylinder test. Disconnect and ground both rear cylinder spark plug wires. Leave the front MAG cylinder spark plug connected.

    Engine should be able to start and run, but very rough, of course, with just the front cylinder firing. You may need to apply some throttle to keep it running. If it will not start and run on the front cylinder something is wrong.

    This video shows the diagnostic process. Each single cylinder should be able to fire up and run the engine.

    I did that and they all run on there own at idle but the mag and center run for a bit and does and when all of the plugs are on the ski will only rev to 4200 rpm out of water

    I put another set of carbs on it no change
    i put new plugs no change
    i cut 1/4 inch of each spark cable
    new battery
    I singled out each cylinder and each one will run on its own but the front 2 cylinders die and the ski vibrates all over

    Could it be the coil that's just weak on two cylinders the ski seems to run fine at high rpm but at low rpm 1200 it will die

    The plugs are bra and new and I cut a 1/4 inch of each wire and still no luck
