P1 Aqua X first time racing

Thinking of racing the Sarasota race in July. Just wondering what your first race experience was like at an Aqua X event? Also any suggestions on a required back protector or race PFDs Would be appreciated. Thanks for any input.

There's some great guys racing AquaX, I'm sure they would be glad to help you if you could contact one. Or, contact Michelle Petro([email protected]) for any questions you have on the series. They provide PFDs for you, not sure about back protection.

First time race in Daytona and it was a great experience. Everyone was very helpful. I was grossly unprepared as i found out on Day 1. Each race will be different depending on the setup. Daytona was on the beach and you had to walk the ski in. This was easy if you had a beach cart such as the bigfoot but if not, you were walking it in on trailer fighting some pretty nasty rollers. Jacksonville i believe is a ramp. Plently of people gave a helping hand which was nice. Read the rules very carefully and if you are not sure if something is legal to race, then ask. For example, Yamaha's have a certain flap at the exhaust's exit. I did not put mine back on so i did not pass tech inspection. I basically had 2 hours to come up with something close to the flap. Ran to walgreens, found a football, cut it up and screwed that on. So little stuff like that matters.

Equipment wise, here are examples of what you can get.

High recommend over ankle boots. I took a spill at full speed and caused a sprained ankle. Was not able to compete in the second race. I am still recovering but i purchased supportive boots. Coming from sportbikes, i should have known better but hey, lesson learned

    Hope this helps

Yes. I was able to get all those items although I have the Slippery race boots. I'll look into the jettribe boots! Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated!
