From reading, I'm understanding a SCOM (Speed Control Override Module) should come first. Unsure the best brand to buy however. I'm learning also.

Will watch this thread closely, as I prefer "bang for the buck mods". I have a stock 2015 310X SE.

yep that's good enough($200) ,but what is your budget and is acceleration something you are after too?

Get a riva scom , and ride it , see what you'd like to enhance or change on it and go from there. Ride plate , intake grate , tune , prop , sponsons etc etc. Depends on what your using it for and what conditions you ride in. A ton of goodinfo on here and pwc offshore. I have a scom and some other small things done to mine , but the ski is more advanced then I am at this point. Trying a less aggressive intake grate next to see if I can smooth out my riding in the rough .. Just an example ..

I'd like to know what each of these parts does, or improves, over the stock part.

Ride plate , intake grate , tune , prop , sponsons etc etc.
Obviously I understand tuning from the car world, better throttle response and power. However, what does these add to the equation?

    • Ride Plate
    • Intake Grate
    • Prop
    • Sponsons

I know some mods improve handling of the ski in different water conditions. Others improve acceleration, but not top speed. It's a bit humorous when someone says they want to improve acceleration of the ski with the reputation to have the best hole shot.

56 degrees 50% humidity 2 clicks up from neutral Riva SCOM only

The only way to increase acceleration is with a ECU reflash by way of advancing the timing and better fuel map..and it's damn worth it!!

Won't get you any more top speed if your tune is made for 93 octane that most Ultra owners buy but gets you to point A to point B quicker ,great grudge racing mod when your with your buddies..

Does a reflash eliminate the need for a SCOM on a 310X?

A reflash makes it a little faster in acceleration maybe 5-10% depending on your prop pitch so let me emphasize that..
