    Intake grate for 2000 gp800

    Hey guys,
I am trying to eliminate as much as possible the porposing on my 2000 gp800 without spending a bunch of money.
So far I found a used gp1200 ride plate on ebay for it.

I was was also told a aftermarket intake grate would help.

What at intake grate should I be looking for? Brand/part number?

im going to look for a used one as the funds are tight.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone has what I need please let me know

    Thanks
    larry

Have you stepped your sponsons? It's free and should help.

    No I haven't. I wasn't aware that you can.

Search around. You basically just cut the center out where the middle bolt goes. When you mount it back on the first bolt will go in the bottom hole, the second bolt will go in the spot you just cut out and the 3rd bolt will be mounted in top mounting hole effectively mounting the sponsons on an angle. I'm sure there is some pictures floating around here somewhere.

No, that's for the GPR style hull. His is the GP style. You will want one like this..http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-wave-...2739ee&vxp=mtr

They fit the same from Waveraider and Venture too.

I was thinking R as well. Can you step sponsons on the older GPs? I don't see why you couldn't but have no experience with them.

Putting the sponsons in the down position really helped my old 99 GP1200. Maybe it will help your 800.

Protec still makes a grate for this GP hull and it used to be pretty popular

We have a Protec on our GP1200. We noticed a big difference in choppy water.
