STX 1100 Steering cable removal and refit.

I have had a look threw the online service and repair manual off the forum (ZXi 1100) and want to know if its the same method for a STX 1100. I broke the steering cable on the nozzle end and there is no thread to reattach the ball joint sleeve. The manual doesn't show on how to disconnect the cable from under the dash either. Anyone got any advice if there is an easy way.

Under the handlebars there is a bellcrank that attaches to the cable end. Remove the bolt (10 mm wrench), pull out the bolt, then there is also a bushing that you have to push out before you can remove the cable end. Be careful not to drop the parts!

Hey Steve. Looks like im going to have to remove the knee padding from around the glove box and remove the bolts that secures the cross beam to get to everything Its all very hard to see whats holding it together.

I just took a quick look at mine, all you have to do is remove the front storage tray and reach in and unclip the snap collar and the cable lifts off from the ball. It probably has a bracket somewhere, but I really don't think the crossbar has to come out.

NOTE: My first response was from just having to replace a steering cable on an Ultra 150. It is different from the STX. Sorry 'bout that!
