Remove the "mesh" either way. They are restrictive and dont filter out anything IMO.

Don't the screens inside the box (EFI) help reduce the effect of a possible backfire. If the ski has any fuel fumes inside the hull, wouldn't a backfire ignite them?

I agree!!! You might be sitting on a fireball one day thinking "I should have left those screens and F/A's in there" They are not real restrictive, and I doubt you will notice any differance. Also some areas they are required. CG in Va always checks for approved F/A on Skis. Big ticket if you do not have them installed.

The CG better bring there tools then . At least on my ski the flame arrestors cant be seen without removing the exhaust. Not even with a mirror.

i saw a good gain from removing the flame arrestors and also ride in the sea so cant remove the front of box or even fit the ported throttle boddies for ross ...
dam salt water gets thrown about in the hull like a washintg machine..

You like the early "Z"? Remember the Scarab? It was a 240 Z with a Chevy small block 327 C.I. Ripped you a new one quickly!!
