    trouble bogging down

    I know this doesn't really belong here but...............You guys seem to be the best section, and the Kawi section is sparce at best.

    I have a 96 1100 STX. The thing will bog down real bad when transitioning from idle to WOT. Do these carbs have a transition circuit that may be plugged?? If not that, what else could it be???

    If they are Mikuni carbs I'd check for restrictions within the system.
    If you go to my gallery and check for Mikuni rebuild, you'll see the breakdown and rebuild procedure.

    Do you know exactly what carbs are in that unit??

    Checked and they are Keihin 38's. The owners manual says that the idle is supposed to be at 250rpms. It is set at almost 1200 and still bogs from the hole. Will not run at below 1000rpms. It stumbles and dies. Will check spark gaps, fuel vent for plugs, clean fuel filter, and check compression in cylinders tomorrow. Any other ideas?????

    Accellerator pump on those carbs?

    If everything else is fine engine wise, it's most likely a slightly clogged pilot circuit, and or accell pump prob.

    Sounds like rebuilds for the carbs. I was hoping to get away without having to do that.

    Unfortunately, I have no knowledge on the Keihin carbs.
    Does anyone have a manual for them thats downloadable????
