stock spark plug color at idle

I know about the WOT chop being the true way to get the correct reading but what color, if any, should they be at idle? Mine are white with a hint of tan on a little section on each plug. I have 42 hrs on them & all look the same. I'm getting a surge when idling on the trailer from 1700 to 1860+. Could it be the powershot interferring with the flow? On the water it idles 1740-1820 back n forth.
I'll go & unplg the R&D this morning & see what happens.

    Thanx

fuel flow makes very LITTLE (none) difference at idle, what controls the RPM is the air flow.

look for a leak somewhere in the intake causing a unstable idle.

Thanx, I ran the ski this morning & it's idling at 1800-1840ish.
It musta been hot from the flushing I did just before I noticed it.
