Thread: 80mph

    80mph

I have a quick 99XPL right now and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a GPR but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Is there anything I should steer away from? I will most likly be looking at GPRs that are 4 years old and older.

    Any suggestions?

60 views and no pro's or con's between the 1200 or the 1300? What mods I should steer away from?

I'm not looking to set the world on fire but a 80mph ski would be fun.

I'd pick this up if I were you.

$6500 is a sweet deal IMO

    That ski has EVERYTHING.

Where are you located? There are a few 80 mph skis's
for sale in the classifieds. You can use either setup, if
you are looking for a older ski than a triple pipe would
be good or a big bore single pipe will get you there. It really
depends on the amount of money you want to spend.

    Welcome Big Jay,

Start with the 13r, and read, read, read, read.

Or if you want to drop 11-12K there is a Kerry built boat for sale on the Riva forums that is running almost 87 MPH. It's a 05 model I believe.

I read that Yami did a hull change in 2001. So I would guess that I should go for something newer than 2000. I had a friend with a 98 GP800 and it rode like crap.

When did they start with the 1300r? Are the fuel injected models direct injected?

I'm in AZ so anything past Houston is pretty damn far.

You got 2000 to 2002 GP1200R the same, then from 2003
to 2004 you have the power valve 1300 motor, then from 2005
and up you have the non power valve 1300 motor. All 1300's are
EFI from the factory. Anything with a big cc motors or triples can
    run 80 or over.

Thanks for the help Ben. When this goes down I will be calling you for parts/assistance. Your write up on your XPL helped get my XPL running hard. My biggest problem is the HIGH air temps and water temps that are a plague in AZ. That and the elevation is 1900 feet uncorrected.
