    Which GPS?

I want to get a GPS but don't know which one would be right for me. I am looking to determine speed of course but don't need anything real fancy. What would you suggest?? Cheap is good!

Garmin has one for $99.00 that works well. I bought a Magellin a while back, but would not show top speed, only current speed so I took it back.

A good choice would be Garmin Foretrex 101 or 201. Both hold maxspeed and current speed and can be worn like a watch.

I have a garmin Etrex Vista cx. It's good to get one with a removable memory card. The Vista cx has a mini sd card. It comes with a 64 meg card but I've seen 2 gig ones at Best Buy for about 40 bucks.

    Beagleman,
What do you think of your base map of your vista. I have the legend cx & the base map is poor @ best. I need to upgrade the map to show more of the lakes & rivers I ride on. Have you bought any upgraded maps? Has anyone upgraded their garmen basemap?

I agree about the base map that comes with the Vista cx. It's weak.
I bought the U.S. recreational lakes eastern edition cd. I has great detail for a ton of lakes and also has a much better street map that goes down to neighborhood level. I put all the maps for the state of virginia, maryland and eastern N.C (along with the map for a lake I ride on) and it did not fill the 64 meg card that comes with the Visat cx. I am going to buy a 1 or 2 gig card next week and put the entire disc on it.

Describing the St. Johns River (assuming it's the one in Florida) as decent size is a bit of an understatement. We did a three day ride on it and never saw the same area twice. It's one of my favorite riding spots in the US except when it develops that crazy bacteria that can kill you. If that river isn't showing up, you really need to upgrade the maps.

Beagleman also has his pretty slickly mounted to the right side handlebar, something that is going to probably make me get that model.
