Fired my first flare just now...ouch

I bought these two used skis from a guy. He had TONS of stuff he gave me. Two full milk crates of parts and accessories and whatnot. So i started going thru it, separating everything and throwing out the junk. I came across this crazy ghetto flare launch. i read the direction... looked like a real chinsy piece of shit. i decided to go out back and let it rip...

this flare threaded onto a firing stick. the flare was like a bullet and there was a firing pin and everything. sucker was the size of an 8mm.

i thread it on there, pull back the firing pin trigger, and released it... BRIGHT as all hell, shell shock on my fingers, and i have had a ringing in my right ear for the past 20 minutes that is starting to give me a headache. my mom was like the cops are gonna come now! isn't that illegal? i said yea actually, it is illegal... so she's been staring out the window all thsi time, LOL...

fun as shit, but i want this ringing noise to go away!

ah man... i'm tellin ya... bad idea I can see myself being at the ear doctor on monday if i wake up with the same ringing tomorrow. my right stopped, but not the left here took over with the ringing and a mild throb.

oh well... i'm gonna go sleep it off, got work tomorrow bright and early. Plus, i figured my 1000th post is a good note to end on laterrr

Old school flares are just meant for people to hear and see them from quite a distance, therefore they might look bright and sound loud when you fire them 3 feet away from your face.

    But they save your life.

And besides that doesn't shock me as much as the meat spinning shit you posted.

You know whats sick? If you get a stainless pistol style flare gun they fire 12 gauge shells. Think about that. And yes i've see it done. And no i won't do it.

well the update is that the ringing in my ears is gone.. but my ring finger on the launch hand (left) has begun turning black and blue... i had tio work today all day long painting, and man was it hurting after awhile, that's when i looked at it and noticed my finger was purple on one side.
