Riva VTS extention rod for RXP?

I just added a 2 Degree Riva wedge. Do I need the extension rod they offer. Is it just "nozzle down" trim that you lose?

If you trim above 3/4 up you lose about 80-100 rpm & 1.5-2mph. I found that 2 clicks below center is equal center.

No, without the rod you are trimmed up more than stock already. On my 06 I can't get the display to read on the center mark. It's always one above or below never on the center. My cousin's 07 hits the center. So, every 2 hits on the vts switch = 1 notch on the display so when I get 1 bar above center I hit down once & call it center.
Check the pics The 1st is set on center & 2nd is 2 bars down from center.
