I HAVE A '98 POLARIS SLTH AND IT'S SLOWER THAN NORMAL TO REV UNDER A LOAD UNTIL ABOUT 4500 RPM. ONCE IT HITS 4500 IT RUNS FINE. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH WATER GETTING IN THE TANK THROUGH THE FUEL CAP, BUT HAVE SINCE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN RIDING THE JETSKI IT RUNS FINE OVER 4500RPM (SLUGGISH UNDER 4500), NO OVERREVING OR THROTTLE STICKING, BUT ONCE I LOAD IT ON THE TRAILER AND REV THE MOTOR TO RUN THE WATER OUT; IT WILL REV TO 8400RPM. THE REV LIMIT IS SUPPOSED TO COME ON AT 7200-7300. THE JETSKI WILL STAY REVING UNTIL FUEL IS SHUT OFF. I SUPPOSE AN AIR LEAK IS THE PROBLEM BUT IT NEVER OVER REVS WHILE RIDING NOR DOES IT IDLE TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW. CAN ANYONE HELP?

Ohh, the death rev...yeah, sounds like an air leak. Sometimes if you crack the throttle open when it's revving like that, it will be enough to snuf it out and it will stop...thats of course after you pull the lanyard. The rev limiter can't stop it because it's essentially "dieseling". I'd look for the leak before running it anymore...next thing you know, you'll have a hole in a piston.

Jyro, WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!! I'd pressure check the engine as well. Man those runaway's are destructive.
