    pump duct seal

How important is that rubber weather strip stuff on the pump duct? Can it be replaced with regular weatherstripping, or even silicone or 5200?

okey dokey. I am getting ready to install the pump. I'm leaning toward silicone so I can remove it if I need to.

10-4 on what big raider said. Many many moons ago my intake duct had a crack in it and I ordered a new one from Riva. I told them I wanted the felt packing also, and they said just use silicone.

Has anyone ever had problems removing the duct after using 5200 sealant? I had a VERY hard time removing mine. I needed to replace it and it was a pain in the rear. I ended up bolting an angle iron to on of the rear of the duct and connected that to a ratchet strap which ran to a fence post. Then hooked the front of the ski to the trailer winch and had to pull the ski forward to pop the duct out. This was done after trying a BFH (Big Fing Hammer) and various other means. The 5200 was only about 3 months old so maybe it would of been easier if it aged, but the 5200 was the only stuff holding it on. I dont think I want to use that stuff again for the duct.
