you need to warm the engine to operating temperature then follow the procedure to get an accurate reading.

i think you have to idle it so the oil warms up, rev it to 4k rpms and kill it.....wait 5 min and then check the oil level

Doo should be level. Engine should be warm. Run engine for 30 seconds. Turn off, wait 30 seconds. Then, check oil level.

edit: Your owners manual is a great source for these types of things. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded free at www.seadoo.com.

the 4k rev is to get the oil to move from the PTO to the oil tank for maximum removal during an oil change. I can only imagine this would yield a false reading on the oil level if you rev. the engine over idle. But, I don't know for sure.

This information is from the operators manual and the service manual so thats what I do.

Yes, I know that... the reason I`m asking is that the engine was disassembled, repaired and filled. I just want to make sure it`s OK for the warm up cycle...PR...

I check mine after I launch, then:

    1. Idle for about 5 minutes.
    2. Check the oil level to see if its between the top and bottom bends.
    3. Add oil as appropriate.

If you just assembled the engine, I would put at least 3 1/2 quarts of oil before launching.

all`s it needed was a few ounces to bring it up a bit when warmed up...
    it`s now reading 2/3rd between the bends...PR...
