if u want serious mapping features and being able to see land and water and you moving thru it and where everything is around you, that won't do it. You will need a GPS with cartographic capabilities. Huge price jump.. if ur jsut looking for top speed and basics, that will do it.

I wouldn't trade my GPSMAP 76C for anything else

you need to buy the etrex legend. That is what i have and it is great. It has many more features than the vista. I uploaded road maps of connecticut and on the water. The legend is garmin blue-chart compatible. It records a ton of trip data, has a ton of waypoints and decent memory. I got mine for $159.99 at cabellas. You can get it at walmart for $129.99. I hope this helps, but so far you are on the right track. First off its a good thing that you chose garmin because they are the best.

I would if it had to be "reprogrammed" like someone else’s military unit. But this is ready to go and its HOT HOT HOT. Act now and I'll throw in a riva stage 2 from Richard at 80% off, his treat

    yo

According to the Garmin site the Vista has more features, like the Electronic compass, tells me which way im pointed when im not moving unlike all the other models, plus it has 24mbs of ram instead of 8 like the Legend, think ill ask for the vista. Either way cant go wrong.
