i think its just a plug in harness with resistors? i am sure you could measure one for ohms and make the same thing....

You can buy the knock sensor update harness.

    Sea Doo # 278002050 for $37.00

    The update is two part
    1) Reflash to the ECU on the BUDS computer
    2) Installation of the knock sensor harness

If your ECU has already been flashed for the knock sensor update then you will need the harness. If it hasn't then don't even bother.

yes, it will have a little piggy back harness plugged in between the knock sensor connector and the main wire harness. The piggy back harness is about 8" long. The knock sensor connector is the third one down just to the left of the ECU

    So Jerry,

I am getting the o4 knock sensor harness and an 04 ecu from rxp to install on my 03 GTX (185hp ecu). Will I have hook up my ski to a buds computer or can I just install the ecu and knock sensor and be done.

Is there any instructions to this being done?

If the ECU you are buying has already been flashed with the knock sensor update then simply install the piggy back harness.

If it hasn't just don't install the knock sensor update harness or take it to a dealer to have it flashed on BUDS.

If you take it to a dealer you will have to spend at least 20 minutes convincing the dealer that,Yes there is a BRP engine in that yamaha.

No joke!!! Every time I take my skis too the dealer they have broke or tore something up, either scratching my skis, covers, or they have broke something on my trailer twice. By the way, my skis have not seen and won,t see the dealer again, ever since last fall for the winterization oil change rimming you get when you go to pick them up and get the bill. wtf

This damn knock sensor deal is more confusing then anything i have worked on so far. Ok Jerry I got it . thanks

Jerry, another stupid question. I found out the ecu i bought was an 05 rxp, if the ecu has not been flashed then in do not need piggy back harness.

IS it safe to run the 05 ecu on 03 gtx with just the ecu and no sensor update. Why did they ever need the update anyway if this is true.

Just want to be on the right page before I tear something up.

    thanks
