    coolant pressure, Yes-No?

is there pressure in the plastic bottle when the ski is running? yes-no?
How long does the pressure stay after ski is shut down?
What does it mean when after about an hour or so, you realease the tank cap and pressure escapes even tho it is only warm to the touch?...PR...

I don't have my RXP in front of me since it is 270 miles away at my lake house. But, on the cap it should say "x PSI". This is how much pressure is in the cooling system at operating temp.

I could be wrong, but I figure the cooling system on the 4-tecs works much like a cars cooling system, if not exactly the same.

There is a spring on the cap that applies so much PSI to the cooling system. When the cooling system is under pressure, the boiling point of the coolant rises. So, the coolant temp can get hotter before it boils.

As for the tank staying pressured, yes this is normal. The tank will be pressured as long as the motor and coolant is hot, warm, or mild warm. It can take a few good hours for the coolant temp to drop enough where there is no pressure.

Same thing with a car, after you drive around, do you ever pop the radiator cap off? No, because the cooling system becomes un-pressurized and the boiling point drops causing the coolant to boil and burn you badly. You always let the car sit for several hours before you service the cooling system. I would think the same goes with the 4-tecs.

it's not an overflow bottle but the resevoir, the cap is a 6lb cap so it could have up to 6lbs of pressure.
