new ski need help with mods
well i just bought a 2002 gp800r and i want to do some things to increas the top end speed any sugestions on what i can do without breaking the bank.

I would say a modded aftermarket rideplate from Jim! I would also maybe throw in a different impeller. Other than that I would call it good because to get real speed you need a 1200 or 1300 cc motor.

I agree a rideplate and prop are the first things to be done for good gains at reasonable price.
I went overboard spending on 2002 xlt800, spent too much, but did gain 10 mph, went from 50mph to 60 top speed. (big bore, porting, increased compression, reeds, carb work, plate grate, prop, etc)
There is lots more power in that little two cylinder than you would think.

whats the limit on the bank.....?????
do you intend to trade up after a while for a 12/1300r as some parts can come with you when you do and sell the ski stock, and keep hot parts you bought for new ski... i.e 800 grate + ff plate (a must)..
