    Straight pipe exhaust question

    Hey everyone,

I have been wondering how water is kept from flooding the exhaust and engine and then hull for the straight pipe exhausts (remove/bypass waterbox). I want to try for the straight pipe through the hull like a Riva thru-hull kit, but want it to be a tad louder than that (don't want to gut waterbox either). Thanks.

    Brandon

Its loud bro,,,real loud! Inorder to do this the pipe should do a "loop". This would insure no water reversion.

Not looking for obnoxiously loud - just louder than RIVA

Oh...if it's that loud, I don't want it. I don't want obnoxious and to annoy boaters. I just want something a tad louder than the Riva thru-hull exhaust. Any ideas?

If you want it a little louder then mod your water box

My ski is straight piped. I have a hump(not a loop) in the pipe and the j pipe also has a hump. This prevents any water from backing up in the motor. At times straight piped skis can be hard to start. The exhaust is Very very loud. It sends small children screaming for their mommies. This modification needs serious consideration before doing it. My ski sets off car alarms within a 1/4 mile of my garage. One positive result is I have suffered any loss of rpms with the straight pipe as some here had told me.
