If you want cleaner power valves,

    Ditch the Yamaglue!

Go full synthetic made for powervalves,
    amsoil keeps them much cleaner.

Is there any performance benefit to having clean PVs?

The more carbon you have on the powervalve the hotter it will run. It will also not want to open up as easy as a clean one. They can start to get stuck and wear out the powervalve and the surface where they ride in the cylinder. Here is an option that a lot of people have had good success with to help keep the engine and powervalve clean.
