    Polaris 700/900/1050/1200

Just so I have my facts straight (or your guys straighten them out for me)

The 700 is a domestic twin, and the 1050 is the big sister triple. They share pistons and jugs, right?

The 900 is the same bottom as the 1050 but smaller bore, and the 1200 is the same bottom but a bigger bore?

    Sounds right?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

    Yes, correct

1200 is also a larger crank...70mm stroke, rather than the 68mm on the 700/900/1050. Bore is the largest of any (other than the MSX).

    Sounds right?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

The cases are different from the 1050 to the 1200. Piston clearance for the 1200 cases are set deeper.

And the MSX cylinders will not fit the 1200 cases with out machine work.
The injected cases have an extra oil injection line at the front crank journal.
DO NOT run a FI engine on pre-mix, that journal among other things will go bye-bye.

Yeah, considering no oil will get to the bottom of the motor due to the fact that the premix would be injected into the top of the cylinder.

Didn't that happen to someone? Can't remember....

Ok, thanks guys for clearing that up for me.

Now on to the other set of questions. Will the 1200 bolt directly in to where a 900/1050 normally is? Same carbs and/or CDI? Engine coupler/driveshaft issues?

The reason that I ask is becuase I will be purchasing an SL1050 with a shot engine. So, I either need a new 1050/900 bottom end OR a 1200 shortblock. I figured I'd ask around and see what anyone has; and at the same time go balls-out with a 1200 if it's cost-effective.

    Lemme know Polaris Pro's!

The 1200 WILL bolt right in BUT you'll probably wind up with different carbs (jetting change for sure) and impeller choice due to the new found power. It's worth it to me.
