    Pump Cone Grease

Should the cone be inspected every season? I was told by my dealer to verify the condition of the cone grease at the begining of the season. At a local dealer I was just told not to open the cone unless I needed to service the pump/impeller or until the 200 hour mark. Which is best?

It wouldn't hurt to inspect it once a season, but it's not a necessity..
If you take your cone off to do pump work all you have to do is make sure there's as much in there as there was when you took it off.

seadoo have come a long way in putting grease instead of oil in there final drives, youll have to go into the pump well before the 200 hours mark, to replace the wear ring or repair or replace the prop, so every time your in the pump just add a little more grease, iv'e run 4tecs since 2002, and iv'e never had to replace a pump bearing or shaft yet, unlike the older seadoo's with the oil lubricated systems and needle bearing setups' i'm still renewing them today, i've yet to see a post on this site, that someone has got worn bearings, i think seadoo have done a good job on there final drive, i wish i could say the same for there superchargers, regards bill

every time i've taken a cone off there's been water intrusion. 2001 gtx-di, 2003 - gtx (before metal pump upgrade and again after the upgrade) I haven't looked at my 04 rxp, im afraid.

Depending on how you ride, beach it alot, check it alot. Sand get's into your seals and causes water intrusion. Do not wait until 200hrs or the damage could of have been done already. It is much cheaper to replace seals than bearing. I caught it on my 05rxt, grease was milky, turned out it was the price of seals. My wifes 00gtxdi pump got a bunch of seagrass on a trip to marthon-key west -marathon and almost melted the pump- I could only salvage the prop. I pull my pump alot to change wear rings and to try differant props, so pull the cone and look. Inspect at lest once a season.
