Thread: Waverunner!!!

    Waverunner!!!

    I bought a waverunner yesterday. I dont really have any information on it(not even what year model it is). The tag on the motor says Yamaha J500A 72 6K8 071718. And the tag on the back of the waverunner says YAMA1232H192. Where can I find out the specks on it? Thanks in advance.

    well its a 92...and with the motor i want to guess a Waverunner III/500 or VXR pro? help me out guys!

    standard waverunner hull ,
    92 designated by the last 2 of the vin.
    6k8... its a 500. that was not used factory, in III's or VXR's

    Thanks for the welcome and the info. Ive been riding for a while but this is the first one that I have owned. I picked it up for 300 bucks. Its been rode 2 times in the past 10 years so the engine looks like it came off the showroom floor. I filled the tank up with fresh gas, hooked up the jumper cables and it started after about 5 seconds with out even choking it.
    What performance mods should I get for this for this? I got it cheap enough that can afford to put a little into it right now.

    only god will smile at you,you poor s.o.b. ... I dived into my crusible of fire with some of these clowns , early on, when I said I have a W/R ..what can I do???... here goes a short list..

    ok. mill the stock head .030..
    get an f/a(flame arrestor)...
    find an SBN/ R carb off a WR 650, its jetted a bit larger and will save time in the long run in tuning ,also the fuel circuit is better (yours should have an sbn,factory , by that year)
    get some boysens or TD reeds..
    have your flywheel lightened (protec can do..)
    pray long and hard to find a protec ss pipe ...
    and a TD water box...
    Get a solas ss impeller ...
    find a two bar grate or a jet dynamics top loader..
    find a ocean pro plate... ( longer, with skegs ,as the w/r loves to slide out)
    look for a protec rev limiter cdi
    find the protec redesigned bowl with the bigger nozzel diam...
    get the hot products cone extension...

    DO THESE IN SOME LOGICAL ORDER( these are not posted here in this way)... say add the plate /grate / f/a and a head mill .. some mods will enhance others.. Think, 'what will THIS addition effect?'.

    note:THIS IS NOT A PACKAGE!!!!! LOL

    clean up your bottom side, with sand paper going with the length of the hull as the wr's hull is prob pretty scored by now..leave your trailing edge sharp..

    find a good area to 'f' around in and have fun... a fast w/r can be a blast,..it will beat you ,er... wear you out by the end of an hour...

    Wow...thats a pretty good list. It just shows what a newb I am at this. I dont know what half of that stuff is or what it does. I build motors for cars and trucks all the time and do custom tuning, but I have no idea what some of that stuff does. Where can I get that carb from? I allready have the old one off because I went and ran it on sunday and it felt like it wasnt reving out right(it would sit there off the line/ or bog down bad when I hit even a small wave). The colors on it are ugly as hell so I want to paint it possibly this weekend, that would smooth everthing out. BTW I found out how rough it was.

    most everything is hunt for these performance goodies...
    f/a's you can buy new
    jet dynamics new..
    hot products extension new..
    limiter.. get yours updated by protec..
    your sbn r ,new, if you pay $$$'s to get it..
    protec cone ..I got the last one new they had at protec
    grate, plate, impeller.pipe all ebay search's...

    theres not alot on w/rs here.. I'm originaly from the riva site... do a search there for lots of wr info...
