Thread: Stained Hull

Last year I rubbed my Ultra 150 hull down with acetone to get off alot of deep scuffs. I didn't realize it then but later i noticed my hull is now a dingy yellow color cuz when I was along side another Ultra 150 I could really see the difference. What can I use to bring the whiteness back?

I would try 3 things. First, some bleach. Let it sit a while and see if it works.
If it's really stuborn, try some on/off sold at marine stores. It's hydrocloric acid and I've used it to take off really bad stains on hulls that were in nasty canal water for a long time. Be VERY carefull with it.
Those 2 are first, if need be use 3M Super Duty rubbing compound.
I doubt acetone caused your discoloring though.

Acetone will turn the glossy gel coat into a flat color gel coat. It removes the finish. Compound wax an your good to go. If that doesnt work try 1000 grit wet sand then compound/wax.
