2000 ME sea doo gtx, what rpm should it be running

speedo indicates 53 and rpm is 6660 does this sound right for that engine which has 1 hour on a rebuild.

break that motor in SLOWLY over 10 hours, then it should spool up to 6800-6900 normally...

6660 is the RAVE valves aren't opening. You shouldn't be anywhere near this rpm yet, as Danny instructed. The first tank shouldn't be over 5k, constantly varying rpms.

After the first tank check the vaccuum connections for the RAVES. Make sure the solenoid is working properly.

Oh no no no, don't ever go full speed on a new engine. Vary speeds and RPM's, and only crack the throttle after 3-5 hrs. A 10 hr break-in period should do, with the varing RPM's to seat the valves. Once that is over, you should be seeing at least 6800 RPM's and at least 60 MPH. Depending on the mods, you can see much higher ratings, but no less. My 2001 GTX, after being broke in, keeps getting faster and running more RPM's. Hopefully I can crack 65 MPH and 7000 RPM's by seasons end.

What valves are you talking about Jay? Solenoid, Raves?

sorry, should have been more clear. i think what the guy said by 'seating the valves' is misleading as this is not a 4 stroke engine. yes there are rave valves and a solenoid valve, but they don't need to 'seat'.
