    Correct idle speed?

What should these beasts idle at? Mine is idleing at about 1500 rpm, which gives it enough forward motion that coming into the dock is a little dicey. Not seeing any smart steering effect as it idles the same whether pointed straight or cranked to one side.

    Thanks for any info.

My smart steering only engages while slowing down from a high speed. It does not engage at an idle...

One of the reasons I really like the reverse lever.

    Thumbs up it s easy...

it s easy to lower the idle speed. The manual says 1340 rpm...
    I tried 1250 rpm..it's perfect!
just follow the metalic cable and find the piece to adjust; you need a 8' tool...

sorry for my english, but you ll find it easily..it is just underneath the BOV!

I wouldnt decrease the idle to much, engines idle at certain speeds to make sure there is enough oil flow to the vital parts of your engine. People are bad about lower the idle on Harley's , any good mechanic will tell you that it will deprive the engine of oil flow at idle, not that my Ultra runs in idle for very long, lol.

Also, you need enough rpm's to properly run the pump to cool all the cylinders efficiantly.

That is your right to think so.
It depends on the quality of the oil you are using, and idle speed has nothing to do with engine lacking of oil

It depends on the quality of the oil you are using, and idle speed has nothing to do with engine lacking of oil at low rpms..

By the way, putting a strainer on the Intercooler intake water line, has also negative effects if you happen to suck sand. I ve seen some broken engine (tripple pipe STX-R) which were using strainer... I would recommend to let it in its stock form, and be careful to have enough water underneath the watercraft, especialy at the start of a race.

There already is a strainer ...you don't need to add one...
