    Ultra Intake Grate (What Cavitation?)

I've owned PWCs for 3 years and never done any mods. Now I own an Ultra and I'm doing some research. Does an after market intake grate really make that much difference? In stock form, I can mash thru all kinds of chop with no cavitation or loss of "hook up." Maybe I just don't know any better(?)

I would guess that due to the design and heft of the 250 a more agressive grate is not needed. Maybe we will see a less aggressive one that maintains hook up and adds some top speed.

Usaully an aftermarket intake grate will help maintain a higher speed in rough conditions, buy scooping in extra water, but it will usually slow down top end on smooth water.

That doesn't seem to be a good tradeoff for us general all purpose riders. I definitely felt occasional loss of hookup in the rough with my GTX 4 Tech. With the Ultra, though, its virtually nil. Arm strength seems to be a more significant factor. If you can hang onto the bars and keep the hammer down, she will go!
