02 GP800r elec starting prob.
OK so I tried to search this problem on the forums, no luck.
Today I went to start up my ski. I tried to start it a few times only to realize I had the gas selector on the "off" position. I then tried to start again. It started and then died. I let off on the chock. As went to start again all I could hear was a small tap or clunk sound coming from the electrcal box mounted on the rear bulkhead. I checked the inline fuse. It was fine. My battery is full charged and has good contact. Ski is completely stock with regards to electrical and motor.
I feel it is going to be the "rectifier regulator assy" or the "starter relay assy."
Any way I can narrow it down to what componet it is.?
Thanks for the help.

In that case would the digital display not turn on if the starter relay was bad?
I went out and took the ignition box cover to see if I could track down the prob. That is when I noticed that the lcd did not turn on when I pressed the on button.

I would try charing the battery again. You only really get three or four good trys on the battery before it starts dying down. People dont realize because it usually starts on the first try or so and then it recharges itself. Reason I say this is if its clicking like that and then the display still worked and then eventualy died then most likely a weak battery. try it, cant hurt! The display will workj for a while with a weak battery because it doesnt use much current.

Actually it is not making that typical "clicking" sound when the battery is dead. The battery is a new Riva battery only a few months old.
I was asking about the LCD because it is not coming on at all and I am not hearing the typical high pitch beep when a hit the "on" botton.
Thus my asking about the LCD. If the Starter relay is bad, then does it not complete a circuit to engage the LCD?

Gauge assembly will not come on if motor does not actually turnover. You could just have a bad connection or the battery shorted out. Try a different one. If none of this works your going to have to open the electrical box and test the relay.
