    ride plate question

jerry as you know i'm on the final gelcote, from what i remember, was the rideplate covered with gelcote ? i think i can see some on the back edge near the draign plug. because when i filled the plate holes, i'm shure i sanded off something which was gray. if i cover it with gelcote will i get overheating massages regards
