    milling cyl head

    Hello everyone, i have been reading about getting your standard cyl head faced to increase the compression on a gp1300r, does anyone know how much to mill off the guys from the local automotive machine shop say thay can do it i just have to find out the details

    To properly mill a head the squish band needs to be cut also. You are better off sending it to a shop that works with two stroke motors. They can cut it to get the compression you are looking for and maintain the proper squish. I have used Pro-Tec since they are close to me Lowell Horning is another good one.

    just have the machine shop take the lip out. I think it as about 25-30 1000s

    Actually its .020-.022

    Tell them to be very careful not to remove too much surface and to be sure the outer width of the squish band is 84mm.

    So, would this be the same for a Gp1200r head? I use a shop thats local and need to do the same.

    Hello Donald the only time you need to change the squish band is if you are going BB, Putting a different angle on the squish band, Or going real high compression milling alot on the head then have to go back and redo the squish band.
