    2000 GTX 951cc

Just looking for some opinions on this model. Would you consider buying one that has over 200 hours on it? I've read many threads about the 951 engine and people not always having the best luck with it.

There is one for sale locally with over 200 hours that comes with trailer and accessories (wakeboard, etc). They have records since they bought it and say its been well maintained. They have offered me a test ride too. Price is at $3500 right now. Should I be scared away by the 200+ hours? If nothing has happened yet to it, could that 951 last for long time? Thanks for any input.

I don't know where you are but I have a 99xpl for sale in Jersey for $4000 with 88hrs. All updates have been done, all fuel lines replaced and carbs cleaned. Mint condition runs strong. All guages work and VTS is still mint.

Keep looking I found 2 gtx 951 carbs years 2000 and 2001 with 2 place trailer for 5,000 on craigs list. The 2000 has 55 hours and the 2001 has 87 hours. They are in great shape and run strong.I was on the computer whenever I had free time and I got lucky. So I would say pass on that deal and keep looking.consider driving a good distance if you find something good.I also found 2 97 gtx 800 with 2 place trailer on ebay for 2,000 and they run good.I had to drive 6 hours to pick them up spent 200 bucks on gas and tolls but it was worth it.So keep looking you will find something better.Goodluck

Price is a bit high...run it through kbb or NADA for comparison. A 2002 GTX is valued at $3385.00 currently.

Buying used is a roll of the dice. Your best idea of engine condition is asking where it was stored...indoors or out. Very few people ever fog a 951, and I know from experience they need it. My 2000 XP was my uncle's first...he stored it outside covered, never fogged it, and I had to bore and go once overs when I did the level one on it with less than 30 hours on it.
