A Good Reason to Like Delaware
I just got off the phone with my Department of Natural Resources. Since i am buying out of state, and the delaer doesnt charge thier tax to out of state purcasers, and there is no tax, i dont pay any tax on the ski!
However it is a PITA to get a transit tag, and i will be taking one from ny instead.

son of a ***** i hate you, lol. 8.625% here in NY, they lowered it from 8.75
that's it, i'm adding some miscellanous Shibby fees to your contract

I just finished a big sales tax audit. I dont charge people tax when I ship out of state. Some items I sell cost way more than a jet ski. Even though I don't charge the tax the client is responsible for paying it to thier state. If I dont ship it and they pick it up I have to charge tax, even if they live out of state.
I am sure no one really does.
My friend and I bought some electronic equipment from out of state. Niether of us paid tax. He get snagged and had to pay the state with interest and penalty.
I have a feeling that there may be some misinformation somewhere here. Someone is supposed to pay sales tax somewhere from the transaction. I doubt the government will willingly not get thier share. Just doesnt sound right.
Anyway that is a lot of jing to save. I hope your info is correct.

u have a residence in DE i suppose then since it's registered there?
we sold Pettee the machine, and when we sell to anyone out of our state or country, we only have them pay us for the merchandise and leave the reigstration and sales tax up to their local DMV at the time of registration.
sold one to a guy up in Maine... and same thing, they have zero sales tax, so he bought the machine for agreed price and took it home and reigstered it on his own and didn't pay a dime.

Thats what i was told from DNREC (department of natural recources handles boats here, DMV wants nothing to do with them).
Its nice here tho, sicne something that costs $4.99 can be bought with a $5 bill.
Wanna get in to real estate taxes? $196,000 houes=$900/yr

His friends $9,500,000 house on the water=$825.

Actually i do not , i live in PA, with DE it doesnt matter about residents, it only matters where you primarily use it is where it needs to be registered.. the paperwork all has my PA address on it...f the system...
