Faced with small delemia on the SLT

Well I pulled off the domes on it today and found a small burned place on the MAg piston. Well not sure if I should find a used piston and base gasket. I was planning on tearing it down this winter and doing the whole thing, thinking about boring it out and using a set of wiseco's and going to the 44mm carbs and intakes. So, should I put a used piston in now, and do what I want to do this winter, or should I go ahead and get a rebuild kit and just hone the cyclinders and throw it together the way it is? Keep in mind that it is a slt 780 with 195 hours.

I'd find out why it burned, hone it and throw a new piston in that one hole, but that's just me.

It is on the top edge near the exhaust. So I know it is on the way out. I do not want it to go and damage the cyclinder or the crank. I guess if I can find a good deal on a used one then I will just swap it out. As the price differance for a std kit vs a wiseco kit is only around $75-100 differance.

Me too. It takes under 2 hours to do it. I know an awesome guy who probably has a piston on his shelf. What's the bore size?

STD Bore, other that carb rebuild and stator bearings this ski is virgin. Looks as if that hole is running a little lean. I just bought this ski a couple of months ago. So I do not have much time on it, maybe an hour or two, but the compression is good on all three for now, but I know what is going to happen. I am going to pull the carbs apart and take a look also. The Cen looks like it has been running a little lean also (looking at piston wash). The PTO look perfect.
