I would say yes. Talk to Tony in parts. What part do you need?

I've heard and seen some loose well before there time.
Replace the fitting, ring etc. use a good sealant and go have a good time.

    Which fitting? #11 and #13?

If it's that fitting, then no, they don't wear out that quickly. It probably just came loose and was allowed to "chew" the threads to death from being loose. Don't forget to order a new o-ring as well, if this is indeed the fitting in question.

it was the nut on the outside of the hull and also the the piece going through the the hull...on both parts the threads were all worn and ground off...anyway,i wanted to say thanks for all the responses that you guys post...i'm a rookie, but it is a huge help being able to ask you "seasoned veterans" for all your help...thanks

It's been a long time since I did mine, but I know I didn't have a special tool, so whatever it was that I did, I figured something out.

I know when we were replaceing the thru hull fittings on the 95's we had the tool for tightening the fitting, I don't know that I would trust much of anything to tighten the nut securely, You're working area is pretty small and trying to get tools up there seems tough.
I like tools so I know I'd buy one for the job.
My tool is part number 2871425 but I know it only fits through 98.
We used to use Loctite Ultra Blue and give it at least 12 hours curing time.
