Assembling Top end and Pipes on 785

Starting the rebuild on my 785 monday and I need some tips.

1)Anyone have advice on what order to put the pipes, motor, and carbs in the boat?

    2) When assembling the pistons will I need a special tool for the piston pin clips?

3)My exhaust pipes, waterbox, etc. have been in the garage/in the boat for a while and Im wondering if there is any way to clean them out(if possible)?

The hardest head pipe to get on is the Magneto one, it has a slot to fit over one of the bottom screws, so I usually get that one out of the way first. If you can drop the engine in the hull with the head pipes on I would suggest that, but make sure if you do that, you hook up your water lines and hose clamp them on. Its pretty tough to route the water lines once they are in. Carbs arent too bad to put on once its in the boat. Pipes go in Center, MAG, PTO.

We managed without one but it can be a pain, a tool is definitely easier.

I made a little fitting so I could hook em up to the hose and run some water through the water jackets and clear em out. As for cleaning the insides...hmm not sure, maybe just spray some water in there, make sure you get it all out though.

make sure you use the shorter bolt for the mag exhaust manifold (the slotted hole) i did not and it did not tighten up all the way. now i have to take them off and fix it. water can leak in and make problems. your stuff will be sent out.
