attaching a gopro hero5...what do you all do/use to be sure it doesnt drown
I was hoping to get a few videos on my GP1800 once its all modded and whatnot like many of you do. I was looking for the most reliable way to attach to the ski or myself if necessary to not worry about it drowning.
I've been freezing my butt off in Mass and I'm here for another week and a half roughly...when I return to Florida I'm going to record and upload videos to youtube on installing the full stage2 mods to my GP1800.

I use the GoPro suction cup mount. It does not float by itself so I just zip tied a small piece of styrofoam to it so that, if it does fall into the water, it won't sink. I should note that in years of riding and getting smacked around, it's only come off once because I didnt latch down the suction mechanism. I am also a big fan of RAM mounts as linked above.

I just use the adhesive backed mounts and attach them to parts of the ski.

My OEM go pro suction cup mount has not come off yet but I also haven't pushed the envelope too much yet.
My RAM suction cup mount that I use for my GPS has fallen off on many occasions.
I still use them but I secure them to the ski with lanyards.
A perfect camera mount would have a combination of the features of both.
The reliability of the suction cup for the go pro mount and the flexibility of positioning the attached device that the ram GPS mount offers

I use the gopro chesty harness over my life vest.
