    HIgh Idle on 07' RXP???

I started it for the first time today(on the hose). It starts up no problem but the RPM's at first fluctuate between 1920-2200 (seems very high to me). Then after about a minute of running it seems to go down a little and fluctuate around 1740-1900, with surging of 2150 every so often. I let it run for about 5 or 6 min on the hose so it could warm up some, and the RPM's stayed still around 1740-1900 still with some surging of 2100 just not as frequent. Ski is stock except for Jerry's Washers that were put in last night(Thanks again Dr Len and Vman). Does this sound normal or to high?

Could be a low battery. Mine did it, but that dont mean it is your problem just something to think about.

its normal. its just becuase there no resistance on the prop (water running through the pump). when im done riding and put my ski on the trailor, i let it run on the trailor while i take it out of the water. as soon as there no water in the pump it surges to about 2100-2200. then goes down to 1700-1800 in a few seconds.

Just a little heads up, if you ran it for 5 to 6 minutes on the hose the carbon driveshaft seal may be toast..

After only 5 Minutes my carbon driveshaft seal could go.

It wasnt on for 5 min straight through it was on and off for that period of time but combined I would say about 5 min.
If it is somethign I should be concerned about, is there a way for me to check it??

Exactly what MXL said ... no worries, you are fine, don't worry about idle out of the water, only worry about it in the water. It NEEDS water resistance to achieve a consistent idle. Our skis are EFI so usually their idle is pretty smooth and consistent in the water, around 1750 - 1850ish.
