    Kawi 250 or RXP ???

I am a newbie but I am gonig to buy 1 of these skis in the next week or two.

I weigh 240 lbs and ride is semi-rough lake water. I want the ski that has the best reliablility and acceleration. They all seem to do high 60's on the big end. I think the Ulta 250 but I see sometime the RXP's are mopping up?? I know some of you guys have been doing this awhile and have both skis. Any help would be great I do not want to spend 12-14K and not be happy with the purchase a week later.

    Thanks

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either one. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. You will be happy with either one I am sure!

RXP of course, they are proven to work and are not a first year design.....do metal washers and some mods and eat the 250 your buddy will buy because he thinks its faster...

Sort of "apples and oranges" here, you are comparing!!!

If you ride smooth, UP to about 1ft of rough water, you might be happier with the RXP.

If you ride is rough cross-chop, with fugly rollers and goofy boat wakes, jump on the Ultra250.

Rxp is more mod friendly THIS YEAR with many experienced modders on this forum.
    Ultra is newer.

    Rxp uses less gas.
    Ultra has better acceleration stock.
Rxp steering and seating is kind of strange.
The Ultra is more "creature comfort" oriented.

Gauges are clearer and easier to read on the RXP. The Ultra has a boost gauge...if you can read it.

Storage is better on the Ultra.

Styling is a personal taste thing....just like opinions and assholes.

RXP hulls are notoriously weak. Ultra has no track record.

Pump system on the RXP is rather touchy on the seal, wear ring, etc.
Pump system on the Ultra is a new design, but seems to work very well.

RXP Super Charger washers need to be changed out IMMEDIATELY after delivery. They will explode on you.
Ultra exhaust needs to be checked on delivery. The hoses have been known to pop off.

Better deals are found on the RXP since it's been out a few years now.

Both are large tanks, but the Ultra is 1ft longer and 100lbs heavier.

The Ultra turns like a DREAM. The Rxp turns like it wants you to jump off.

The Ultra anti-theft device is rather goofy. The RXP thumb throttle is a love it or hate it affair.

All I know is the 250 is a BEAST in any type of chop. I raced one with my 15f on flat water and it was an even race. I raced another the other day in some rough water and he flat kicked my a$$! 0-65 he had 5-6 boat lengths on me! I couldn't believe how he stayed HOOKED and I bounced all over. There was an RXP out there too and he didn't want any of the 250 in that chop. The RXP was bouncin as bad as I was. The RXP will probably win a top speed run on glass, but throw some ripples/chop on the water and the 250 doesn't lose speed. I'd say from what you said about your lake's conditions that the 250 will be dominant.

Thanks guys that is all the info I need. I think I am going to go ahead with the Ultra 250 simply becuase of the large lake I ride in and I am a big guy so a bigger ski might fit me better

Thanks for all the help the forum rocks for good info.
