    Valve Float Victims Respond Please

For those of you who have floated valves, what year model ski do you have? I ask because I want to get a stock class ECU for an 05 ski, but the 05 ECU only comes with an 8500 rev limiter. To stay stock class legal, I cannot upgrade the valvetrain. I am told that the 04-05 skis are not as succeptible to valve float as the 06-07 skis, and that's why Rotax does not make an 8350 rev limit ECU for the 04-05 skis. Any 04-05 owners have valve float issues?

Last year i rode my stage 2 05' RXT right @ 8450 peak rpms @ WOT for the entire season without single issue with my stock valve train in place, at that time i was using the same Rotax Racing stock class (4502) ECU with the rev limiter set to 8500 rpms that you mention here with a high boost Rotax Racing wheel and 42lbs/hrs injectors combo, my buddy Israel Padilla also was running this same ECU in his moded 04' RXP last year with the B kit, fuel controler and 50lbs/hrs injectors without a single issue as well.

I don't know, but from the wording of some other post it sounded like all year stock class ECU's manufactured after some date like Dec. 2006 would have 8350 rev limit. The only difference in parts from 04/05 and 06 that would have anything to do with valve float is the cam and the 06 cam is smaller.

Per Franco Dettori, none of the 04-05 stock class ECU's have the 8350 rev. limiter. And the cam change is the supposed reason the 06-07 skis are more vulnerable to valve float. Anyone with an 04-05 ski float a valve?

    good question,

I have the Riva valve kit but I am thinking about getting a additional ski so I dont wont to install it on my 05 RXT and save it for the new one but I would like to run the Riva ECU at least for the bug or until I get a new ski

Bro, if you are going to install the Riva ECU for mud bug in your moded RXT i strongly sujest that you put the Riva valve train upgrade kit to have some peace of mind, yesterday i was seeing "sustained" 8600 rpms @ WOT in my ski.
