Guys I have read a ton of battery stuff and did a search. I have some basic questions I could not find answers to.

1.) Can I run one Very good battery to my stereo amps and only have a prosport 20 charging system for shore?
2.) Do I have to have a battery switch to connect the starting battery to the stereo battery?
My Boat has a 30 amp 380 w Generator. So I am just tiring to figure my batteries out as will my boat really charge the stereo battery any if I connect them?

    I am thinking about this?

I ended up just buying one group 31 AGM battery as the wife and I just don't sit in a cove foe 8 hours with just the radio on. SO for us a BIG single 31 was enough.

I have the same boat and went with a battery separator. It is basically a voltage aware solenoid that connects the 2 batteries/banks together when the engine is running/charging and separates the banks when engines are off. You can get them for around $50 at https://www.allbatterysalesandservic...fm/4,2706.html (these come in uni and bi directional versions FYI, that means they will connect depending on charger current on either bank). These are also smart enough not to connect the banks if the voltage difference is more than 3v, ie one bank is dead the other being good etc, even if the alternator side is charging. If you are constantly deep discharging the stereo battery, just use a battery charger when docked to maintain/restore that battery. My stereo group 31 tends to do pretty good out till about 6 hours...
