Help! Pulse line and fuel shut off ??????

More questions from the newbie section. Ha! I am installing a new Mikuni trippple hexagon fuel pump and have looked at the diagrams on this site is the pulse line the one in the middle of the pump? Do I still need to retain the fuel shut off switch or can I bypass it since is may cause some restriction in the fuel lines. Please help!! I want to run my hoses and have her back in the water by friday

You may buy pass the selector switch. The pump is marked with arrows The pulse line connects to the back of the pump.

    Question Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply, Its time to head back to the garage and get to plumbing!
Is it any kind of safety issue with not having a shut off valve? Or is it Worth keeping or is it just trouble?

It is possible without a shutoff that if your fuel tank doesn't vent properly, when pressure builds in the hot sun, fuel can push past your needle&seat and fill your engine with fuel.... and I mean ALOT of fuel.

    Put one inline.... simple on/off.

I've seen it happen more than once, just install a new valve (16.73 new from your local dealer)Jay at Atlantic Powersports probably has one in stock.

I just realized I didn't ask if this was for your 780, if it is, it should already have the good triple outlet pump.

Change all those damn hoses though, they still deteriorate and should be replaced on occasion.

    Use the shut off!

i decided to go ahead and use the shut off since it could cause problems by deleting it. I just got finished running all new hoses and installing the new hex fuel pump. I realized that I already had the good pump after I had already dropped the 28.00 bones for the new pump. Should have just bough a rebuild kit to see if it would have made a change.
Last time I took out the ski I could only get 6400 rpm out of her. This was better that the 4000 that she pulled when the gas gauge was messed up. Any suggestions on how to get this engine to full potential?

Hopefully the new lines and rebuilt pump will solve your running problem.
