There will be lots of gators for you to see
The Gulf is about a 25 mile run. There is nothing to see down there except marsh. There really isn't a beach and there aren't any fuel stops to get fuel to make it back home.

We tried to get out to the Gulf last year, but we only made it to the bay before we got down to a half tank of gas and had to turn around. We did find a place to get gas, but they only had 87 octane. It is a fun run. If you do it, don't piss off the guy who operates the lock you have to go through. He didn't like us and made us sit and wait for 30 minutes before he let us go through.

Morgan City is the home to the largest Gators I have ever seen. The big ones do not even move out of the way or go underwater. You can ride by them and 10 minutes later comeback and the same one is sitting there in the same spot.
