    Modded Flow Rites (pics)

    since i posted this thread:
    http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...ight=flow+rite

regarding prefilters/flow rites and airflow ive decided to 1.) put a window screen over the rear vent instead of a prefilter and 2.) mod my flow rites for more air flow. I feel that this would be the best for airflow while still providing some protection against water intrusion.

the fow rites i modded are the 2.5" rubber grommet type. im not sure if you can do this with the snap in ones. the only thing i bought was a roll of window screen from home depot. its a 38" x 46" roll which is way more than enough and it was $5.

ok, pic 1 is a regular flow rite. to take it apart, pull the rubber grommet off.
after you have it in 3 seperate pieces cut 2x 3.5" sqaures of your window screen. I use 2 pieces so i can cross hatch them to make the openings smaller. you can use one if you want.
center the metal ring under the 2 squares and put the grommet back on. its not that hard, you wont fight with it too much. once the grommet is on the 2 screens are probably not tight over the ring. pull each "tab" to make both screens tight over the ring.
now you should have something like i have in pic 4. flip it over to the back and cut off the excess screen with some scissors. the finished product is in pic 5.
i also attached a pic of one i modded with a single screen. i thought the opening were too big for my liking.

i am going to to the same cross hatch to my rear vent. i found that a prefilter was robbing me of 200+ rpms and the flow rites about 50+ rpms. btw these flow rites are for my rear grab bar. if you only ride in flat water i would do this mod to the flow rites in my seat cowling aswell.

But with all due respect, the Flowrites don't keep air out either. They flow air quite well actually.

You did an awesome job by the way.
