Another 1100 Raider enthusiast.
Hi guys from Los Angeles CA, with my introduction.......
I have ridden dirtbikes for 6+ years and after several bad crashes on my YZ 250 it was time for a change, before I broke anymore bones.
Whilst I was still very much addicted to the "Rush" of acceleration I decided to trade it for a less dangerous toy (or soo I thought) A new `95 1100 WaveRaider. This was the fastest straight line ski at the time, but I heard that it came with some strange handling quirks, but I knew that these issues could be fixed because I saw soo many pros riding Raiders at the races.
Before I had the internet, my only source for information on handling mods was from lame-ass jetski mags and Yamaha dealers, who just wanted to sell me "whatever brand they had in stock" (along with all the BS.......)
After 50 hours on my Raider and now seeing the new 1200cc Yammis out on the water, I wanted more power to beat them at the "River Drags"......
I read an article about a guy named Ted Boyko @ Mission Yamaha in SoCal, that was porting & modifying motors for race teams around here.
At the time, I really wished that I had a genuine source for true and un-biased information and comparision of parts...... NOT just what a dealer wanted / needed to sell to me......
So after chatting with Ted, (seemed a Very Technical / Knowledgeable Guy) I dropped off my cylinders, cases and R & D head for some 92 octane Recreational porting and raised compression.
Here is a list of other mods that I performed on my motor and ski.
Trued and welded crank
R & D head with adjustable domes and raised compression 150 psi
38 carbs choke plates removed K & N`s upgraded jetting ( I need to get them bored)
Converted to premix 40:1
Reed spacer plate stock reeds (for durability) ported intake by me
RAD Aluminum flywheel
Riva CDI ignition box
Solas impeller 13/19 14/20 I forget which......? (swapped back and forth)
Polished / de-burred-cleaned stock pump
Duel cooling lines
Riva Intake grate
Riva extended ride plate
Beach House Express sponsons
I have been following along and posting at various PWC sites, however most guys are more into modifying the 1200/ 1300 later model skis, with not alot of info, for the Original Muscle Ski < The 1100 Raider.
Thanks to BullRaiders invitation, I have joined up, and lookin` forward to meeting all the Die Hard 1100 Raider enthusiasts here, that I have been searching for SOOO Long,...... all living and thriving here @ Green Hulk dot com "Old Skool Discussions"
I look forward to reading, sharing and contributing my information here, so that WE CAN ALL continue to modify our "Old Skool Muscle Skis"...... >>
To be faster than the new skis, and the guys that have the 3 / 5 year

Welcome aboard.....I don't own a Raider (yet), but I do have a couple of Old School rides. Lots of great folks in this section and this website. We all welcome your input. By the way....you found a good one in Ted. He's ported some pretty strong motors over the years.
